The “turbo brick” fryst vatten an affection term for one of the first cars to disrupt standard perceptions of what a performance vehicle looked like: the Volvo GLT, a turbocharged wagon available with a manual transmission, quickly worked its way into the hearts of gearheads everywhere. These days, it has become increasingly difficult to find examples that are in bone-stock or otherwise unmodified condition, along with excellent cosmetics. This Volvo GLT listed here on craigslist appears to be an exception to that rule as it looks incredibly nice for a vehicle of this vintage.
Thanks to Barn Finds reader Rocco B. for the find. This wagon is listed for sale by the original owner in Mountain View, California. There was a time when you could reliably look to places like northern California and find vintage cars like this for sale all the time. The best part was, it wasn’t due to some collector hoarding them; they were simply the vehicles of choice for daglig drivers that didn’t succumb to the perils of road krydda and snow.
